In September 2014 the NSW Government announced that the Home Care Service of NSW, including Aboriginal Home Care, will move to the non-government sector around mid 2015. This will ensure that Home Care can continue to deliver high quality and person-centered services to older people, people with disability, their carers, families and communities.

The NSW Government has reached an agreement with United Voice (the union representing care workers) on the employee conditions that will apply as we move Home Care to a non-government operator.

The following employee conditions will apply to care workers:

  • A transfer payment of up to eight weeks pay, on a sliding scale based on completed years of service for ongoing staff.
  • An employment guarantee for two years for permanent staff. Temporary and casual staff will have an employment guarantee for a maximum of six months.
  • Entitlements, such as annual leave, sick leave and long-service leave will be transferred over, in full, to the new employer.

If have any questions relating to the to the Transfer Agreement for Home Care Workers please email workingtogether@facs.nsw.gov.au or AboriginalWT@facs.nsw.gov.au and someone will respond to your enquiry to the best of their ability, based on the information available at the time.

Please note: any questions regarding office based staff and the PSA union representing them are still being negotiated.
